Happy New Year I A Lewis!! We were so happy to get back to school and see everyone after the holidays! Don't be fooled because this month doesn't seem as busy as previous ones---lots of new and exciting opportunties await our Rams in the future! Don't forget the Holiday Reading challenge is in full swing! The last day before a holiday break can be a bit overwhelming for some, so tomorrow would be a great day to take a minute to find a quiet space and READ! Plus, anyone who participates and makes 85% or better on the test gets cocoa and cookies as a reward after the break!!

Let’s celebrate the season with a pajama day on Tues, Dec 19th. Students may wear pajamas (holiday themed or regular pajamas) with closed toe shoes; no slippers, slip-ons, or crocs will be allowed. Please make sure that your pajamas follow regular school dress code guidelines; they should be free of inappropriate slogans/pictures and not low cut or excessively tight.

It's time for the 2nd nine weeks reading challenge--HOLIDAY edition!! Last nine weeks there were over SIXTY particpants and we are hoping for that and more this time! See the flyer for more information OR ask Ms. Touchstone if you have any questions. Happy Reading!!

The holiday season is a fun, busy time for everyone and IAL is no exception! Remember that in addition to the fun, we are still working hard in all classes to ensure success on LEAP and Innovative Assessments. Our annual Book Fair continues tomorrow! All money raised will be used to purchase student-requested (and district approved) materials. If you do not want your child bringing cash, card, or check to school, please visit the link below and consider shopping online or setting up an Ewallet account. November is here and we have made it through the 1st nine weeks of school! Report cards will be sent home with students TOMORROW. If you have any questions or concerns, please contact the school to set up phone calls/conferences with teachers. A copy of the November calendar is posted below and is being sent home with students.

I A Lewis is hosting a BOOK FAIR next week in the library! There will be lots of exciting books, colorful posters, and fun trinkets available for purchase. Funds raised will be used for student requested purchases! Parents, please make plans to visit us Thursday night. See everyone soon!

Parents/guardians, please read the announcement regarding cold weather gear: While we do allow students to wear jackets to school, jackets may not be worn during the school day in hallways or classrooms. If students want to wear something warmer in the classroom, they must wear a regular crewneck sweatshirt (plain school colors or IAL or Ruston) with no pockets, zippers or hoods. Any caps, beanies, fleece/sweater headbands, or gloves worn to school must also be put away in lockers upon arrival. Thanks for your help with this!

If you have students in your homerooms they are dressed for Red Ribbon Week, please send me pictures if you think about it! We can use those for the yearbook & in posts to show parents & the community how awesome IALewis!

Parents, don't forget that Picture Day at IAL is tomorrow. Students should wear regular uniform clothes for these pictures. Thanks!
